About Us
Book Village carries both paperback and hardcover books. Just
about every genre is accepted. The exceptions being textbooks and
computer related-both due to how quickly they become outdated.
HISTORY
Book Village has been in business since August 4, 2003. Prior
to that, owner Tom Kohl had worked for two other used bookstores
in town: Book City and My Grandkid's Book Stop.
Sid Boonstra, the owner of those two stores wanted to focus on
his coin and stamp business. Being a bookworm, Tom seized the opportunity
to open his own bookstore. This solved a major problem Sid was
facing: what to do with all the space his book shelves used to
occupy.
In 2005, Sid moved to his own store front. Tom then expanded Book
Village.
In September 2009, Tom opened his second location, at 210 College
Ave in downtown Holland, which moved to bigger digs two doors down
at 214 College Ave between Lemonjello's and Full Circle in November
2009.
In January 2010, the original Book Village consolidated operations and closed the original Lakewood Blvd location. |
